Welcome

My name is Janette Norton and I have lived in France for more than 35 years, just across the border from Geneva, neatly sandwiched between the Jura (north), the Alps of the Haute-Savoie (south) and the Swiss Alps (east). I developed a passion for walking or trekking while I was a guide in Switzerland in my twenties. More recently I decided to record my walks on dictaphone and then on computer for the benefit of myself and friends in the region. Over 10 years I have published five books of walks in different regions of France.

I have decided to start this website to talk about my books, norton mainly to add information and give some useful updates or anecdotes. I am especially interested in feedback from walkers who have used  my descriptions, so please email me  if, for example, my directions were difficult to follow, or paths have been recently re-routed. I know from bitter experience that one may return to the same walk after a few years to find it partially obliterated by a housing estate, modified boundaries of private properties, or even a new ski lift!.

My books are in English, published by Cicerone in the UK. They are available on the internet from Cicerone and Amazon (UK, US and Canada), main bookshops in the UK and in the English-language bookstores in Geneva - press how to buy.
