From Margaret & Terry Smith We have just returned from two excellent weeks walking in Provence with the aid of your book. I enclose amendments we have found and hope that they may be useful to yourself and other readers. Please let me know when your book on walking in the Dordogne is available. We used your walking book on the Cevennes last year. We really appreciate all the hard work and research that writing such books entails. Good luck with any new ventures. From Kit Hum My wife Ann and I have just got back from a marvellous fortnight in the Cevennes during which we managed to undertake walks 1, 18, 20, 28 and 29. Your book was brilliant! From Brian Chapman Have just been on holiday to Provence and much enjoyed using your book "Walking in Provence" 2003 edition. From Dave We have recently returned from this area and did a couple of your walks in the Gorge du Tarn, walks numbers 21 and 22 in your book. May I say that we found your descriptions very accurate and easy to follow. From David George We have just returned from an excellent holiday in the Dordogne, in which we made good use of your book...... We enjoyed all the walks, the weather was consistently good and the views excellent. Thanks very much for your efforts, keep up the good work. From Anthony Hendon I recently took a holiday in the Cote d'Azur during which my party enjoyed three fantastic walks from the Alpes Maritimes section of your Cicerone guide to walking the area....... I should probably let you know that I am a newspaper sub-editor, so am pretty picky about English usage. I want to reiterate that your walks gave us some superb days out, so thank you for all 11 of us. From Pam & Alan Barnes We have just returned from a holiday near Mt.Ventoux in the Vaucluse region of Provence. One of the highlights of our holiday was the La Gambade walk from Gigondas (Walk No.30 in the Provence book). What a wonderful walk with a great variety of walking terrain and scenery and views - including the stunning Dentelles de Montmirail. We had no problems in following your instructions and never got lost once..... A wonderful walk in a wonderful area. From Kevin Laurence ........My wife and I have greatly enjoyed using your books to explore Provence on foot over the course of several holidays. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge of the area. From George Deutsch I thought I must let you know how delighted my wife and I were with your book "Walking in the Dordogne". Having deiscovered your book recently we decided to build a walking holiday around it. We arranged to spend 4 days near Sarlat and then 4 days near Bergerac. We thoroughly enjhoyed all the walks (7,8,10,17,18,23 and 26). Your directions were quite superb. We had no maps but did not get lost once! Having followed other walk books (mainly in the UK) for over 30 years you have shown that it is possible to write unambiguous directions. Please do let me know if you are planning to write any other walking books. Thank you for an excellent walking holiday! From Philip Flood This is just to say how much my wife and I and two good friends enjoyed following in May/June several of the walks in your splendid "Walking in the Dordogne" which we found through amazon.com. We especially enjoyed walks Nos. 9,8 and 4. The notes are exceptionally good - always accurate and helpful. "Walking in the Dordogne" is an outstanding guide to walking in one of the most beautiful regions of France. I am a former Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdown with a passion for walking in the countryside. You have enriched our holiday in Europe. From Brenda Robertson As so often happens English people seem to get English and British mixed up. I am referring to Dordogne publication page 229, item 6. Village Constant is a holiday village belonging to the Holiday Property Bond, catering for British tourists. When your book is republished please amend the entry. I am Scottish or British but never ever English. It is due to instances such as this that make many English people appear arrogant to the Scots, Welsh and Irish. England is not Britain. We are soon to leave on holiday for the Dordogne area and I am sure we shall find your publication very helpful, as others in the series have been. Oops sorry Brenda, my Edinburgh born husband who reads my script before it goes to the publisher, got ticked off for this!! From Helen Bee & Carl de Boor (USA) My husband and I, with 2 friends, recently spent 2 weeks in Sarlat walking (and eating and drinking wine, of course!). We used your book of walks with great pleasure and satisfaction and commend you on the detail and level of helpfulness. We are looking forward to further walking with your books. |
